We are looking forward to a great ski season and hope you can join us again. However, skiing and snowboarding will be different this year due to COVID-19 and we want to make sure you are aware of all the impacts COVID-19 will have on your visit to Sunridge. This page is updated regularly as protocols are updated but we wanted to share with you our current plans with regards to operations. These plans are based on government guidance, numerous discussions and meetings with our ski areas association and other local ski areas, and are made to ensure the health and safety of you and our staff.
Families can ride together
Two on the quad chair
Two on the triple chair
2m apart on the carpet lifts
2m apart everywhere
Wash hands frequently
Stay home if unwell
Wear a mask or face covering
On the hill, we expect to offer you the same fun and friendly experience that you've come to expect. All lifts and runs will be open and our tubing and Terrain Parks will also be open as usual. However, the major changes that you will notice is that our hours are different and everyone (except passholders) must book ahead by making a reservation to come skiing or snowboarding. Passholders with season rentals must book in advance so we can have your equipment ready for you.
In a regular season, we are open weekdays from 9:30am until 9pm and on weekends and holidays from 9:30am until 5pm. On each weekday, we normally host hundreds of students on school field trips. However, this season, all school field trips are cancelled. This is a major loss for all local ski areas and we have to find a way to reduce our expenses to account for this loss of revenue.
At this time, to help to manage our costs given this significant loss in revenue, we will be open from 9am to 5pm on weekends but only from 5pm to 9pm on weekdays until Dec. 18. We will extend our hours to 9am until 9pm on holiday weekdays, school PD days and Teachers Convention days. From Jan. 4 until closing day, we will be open Mon. to Wed. from 5pm to 9pm, Thu. and Fri. from 1pm to 9pm, and weekends from 9am to 5pm.
Check our conditions page for more details on our hours of operation.
If the local school boards decide that school field trips can go ahead, then our weekday hours will revert back to being open from 9am to 9pm on days when we have field trips booked. And if all restrictions are lifted, our hours will revert back to normal.
To allow for appropriate physical distancing we have set up a capacity limit on the number of people on the hill and we are limiting the number of people in the chalet. As a result, everyone (except passholders) coming skiing or snowboarding must book in advance by making a reservation. No advance reservation, no ticket, no skiing.
This will be a new experience both for us and for you so we appreciate your patience as this system goes into effect. On the relevant pages of our website (six packs and lift tickets ) you will find information on making a reservation. Lessons and tubing have always required advance booking so few changes are expected in these areas.
EVERYONE must pick up a lift ticket when they come to the hill. Passholders just need to show their pass at the outside ticket window to pick up a ticket, they don't need to book ahead unless they have season equipment rentals. For everyone else, we will check your reservation on arrival and then print your ticket. We will have ticket checkers on both chairlifts and on the Bunny Hill so be sure to have your ticket on at all times.
Lift tickets can be bought for the whole day, for four hour time periods (9am to 1pm, 1pm to 5pm or 5pm to 9pm), and for the last two hours (7pm to 9pm on weekdays and 3pm to 5pm on weekends). We won't be offering our popular Monday Madness deal to start the season but may re-introduce it in January.
To help us limit how many people are in the chalet, we have set up an additional outside facing ticket window with additional signage and a new foot path to get you there.
Only passholders with season equipment rentals must book ahead so we can have your rentals ready for you when you arrive. So we can enable contact tracing, all passholders will need to pick up a lift ticket before going onto the hill. Just show your pass at the outside ticket window to pick up your ticket. If you don't have equipment rentals, you don't need to book ahead of time.
All rental equipment must be booked in advance before you come to the hill. Everyone renting equipment must have a Sunridge account and must have completed the online Equipment Rental Waiver before coming to the hill. We no longer have rental forms to be filled out here at the hill.
Passholders with season equipment rentals must book ahead so we can have your rentals waiting for you in the rental shop when you arrive.
When you've booked a lift ticket and rentals, you will receive a confirmation email and a text. In your confirmation email, we've included a link to our website where you can let us know who is using the equipment that you have rented. Please make sure you have completed this step before coming to the hill. If you haven't, your equipment won't be ready for you and you won't be permitted in the chalet until this information is completed.
Equipment can be rented for the whole day, for four hour time periods (9am to 1pm, 1pm to 5pm or 5pm to 9pm), and for the last two hours (7pm to 9pm on weekdays and 3pm to 5pm on weekends).
A mask or face covering will be required inside the chalet at all times. Masks or face coverings are also required while in lessons, in the lift lines, on the chairlifts.
We will be limiting the number of people that can come inside the chalet to ensure we can maintain proper physical distancing. We highly recommend all guests come dressed to be outside for the majority of your visit to Sunridge.
No outside food or bagged lunches are permitted in the chalet and use of the tables in the chalet will be limited to 30 minutes.
Our cafeteria will be open but our menu will be limited. We will have plenty of grab and go items so you can maximize your time out on the slopes. You can even order food items online on the day of your visit and receive a text when your food is ready for pickup. Payment for online food items can only be made using a Sunridge card.
Those guests that are not skiing or snowboarding will be encouraged to watch outdoors. We have a brand new 2,000 sq. ft. heated deck close to the Bunny Hill which will be a great place to stay warm, listen to music, and watch the activities.
Access to our washrooms will be from the outside doors only. One-way in and out doors to the washrooms will be clearly marked but you won't be able to access the washrooms from inside the chalet.
With space being so limited inside our chalet, we highly recommend guests come to the hill ready to ride and leave any bags or other items in your vehicle or at home. Think of your car as your chalet this winter.
All of these changes will place a significant load on our IT and online point-of-sales systems. While we have spent the off-season getting everything ready for the season, quirks and issues are likely to arise so please be patient with us as we work to ensure you can still have a fun day on the slopes here at Sunridge.
Please check the sections below for answers to some of the questions you may have for us. You can always email us at email@example.com or call us at 780-449-6555 if you have any additional questions.
Yes, we will be setting a limit on the number of people that can be on the hill at any one time during the day. For this reason, our lift tickets can be purchased for specific time periods; all day, 4 hour tickets (morning 9am-1pm, afternoon 1pm-5pm, evening 5pm-9pm) or 2 hour tickets (3pm-5pm weekends and holidays, 7pm-9pm weekdays).
The specific number of people will vary depending on the day and some weekend days may hit capacity with lessons, passholder, and ski club activities. To ensure that you can come skiing on a specific day, we recommend you buy tickets well in advance as same-day tickets may not be available.
However, space in the chalet will be more limited in order to maintain 2m physical distancing. You may experience line-ups to get into the chalet. To help minimize the number of people in the chalet, we have setup an additional outside facing lift ticket window so you can pickup your pre-ordered lift tickets without coming inside.
Only if you have season equipment rentals. If you don't, then you can show up anytime, pick up a lift ticket at the outside ticket window, and head onto the hill.
Yes, the cafeteria will be open for food services. However, the selection will be limited and the line-up will be setup to ensure physical distancing of 2m can be maintained. Cash will not be accepted so be prepared to use a Sunridge card or a tap debit or credit card. You can even order food items online on the day of your visit and receive a text when your food is ready for pickup. Payment for online food items can only be made using a Sunridge card. Outside food and bagged lunches are not permitted and use of the tables in the chalet are limited to 30 minutes.
For day skiing, you must plan ahead and buy a lift ticket online before you come to the hill. If we are already at our preset capacity on the hill, then you won't be able to buy a ticket for that day. If there is space available, you can of course buy a ticket online on the day you want to come skiing. However, you cannot buy a lift ticket at a ticket window. All lift tickets must be bought online before coming to the hill.
Yes, but all rentals (like lift tickets) must be ordered online before you come to the hill. Rental forms that were previously filled out at the hill are no longer available so everyone renting must have a Sunridge account and must have completed in advance the rental waiver agreement. You only have to complete this waiver agreement once during the season.
No. We accept tap cards (debit, VISA and Mastercard) for payment online or at the hill. And new this year, you can load a dollar value onto any Sunridge card (gift card, season pass card, six pack card) to be used online or at the hill. You can even reload your card and transfer part or all of the funds on your card to another card. Click here for more information.
